General Club Rules 2005.

 

  1. All subscriptions are to be paid in two bi-annual instalments of £30 and are non-refundable. Junior members will not pay a monthly subscription. Any member who falls three months in arrears faces disqualification from the club.
  2. Any member cancelling a trip with less than one calendar month’s notice will be charged the full price of the trip unless they are able to provide a substitute. The boat fee should be given to the treasurer or trip organiser before the trip.
  3. All trips that are not viable (i.e. less than four on a six man boat and less than six on an 8 man boat) will be cancelled and the boat deposit forfeited unless those members going on the trip are still prepared to go and meet the extra costs.
  4. Where the maximum number on a boat is not achieved the shortfall (up to £75) will be made up from club funds if money permits. Where there are six anglers present (4 on a six man boat)  one members fees will be paid by the club.
  5. All members must act in the clubs best interests at all times. Any grievances should be brought up at club meetings or brought to the attention of the committee.
  6. Each year the club will award trophies to :
    1. The fisherman of the year (to be voted for by members).
    2. The member catching the best specimen.(plus 2nd and 3rd).
    3. The member catching the heaviest cod.
    4. The winner of the cod championships.
    5. The heaviest bass.
    6. The heaviest plaice.(The Chris Savage Trophy).
    7. The heaviest Pollock
    8. The heaviest fish.( A shield) plus a 2nd and 3rd.
    9. Boat winners in the cod championships.
    10. The best bream caught in Jersey. ( The Bob Whitehead Memorial Trophy).
    11. The heaviest bream caught in home waters.
    12. The heaviest tope.
    13. The heaviest Smoothound.
    14. The greatest number of species.(plus 2nd and 3rd).

 Notes

 No fish may win more than one prize.

 Only UK mainland club trip captures to count toward species competition. (Added AGM 2004)

  1. All rule changes will be agreed at monthly club meetings, ratified by the committee and incorporated into club rules at the AGM.
  2. Details of club finances will be made available at monthly meetings.
  3. Members must attend at least four meetings a year. Apologies should be sent to the secretary.
  4. Non members may fill vacancies on trips at the discretion of the committee..
  5. Social events will be arranged throughout the year.
  6. Members will take it in turns to organise trips. Their duties include organising bait, being responsible for the club scales, contacting the skipper and boat crews and returning the catch sheet to the secretary.
  7. A newsletter will be published at least six times a year. All members may make contributions to the newsletter.
  8. Any member wishing to leave the club must give one month’s notice in writing to the club secretary.
  9. No Alcohol or illegal drugs are permitted on board any boat during a club trip.

 

Fishing Rules. 2005

 

  1. All fish under the NFSA size limits must be returned alive.
  2. No more than three hooks may be used on any trace. A treble counts as one hook. Only one rod may be used and must be attended at all times.
  3. Fish will normally be weighed on shore but may be weighed on board if the fish is to be returned alive. All fish weighed must be witnessed by at least two people with the skipper being the arbiter in any dispute. Tope, conger, shark and skate may have their weight estimated by the skipper.
  4. All mini species may count as club records and any mini species caught that is 50% of specimen size will count as a club record.
  5. Only fish listed in the NFSA diary will be awarded points.
  6. All members must follow the instructions of the skippers at all times.
  7. Normally only eight anglers will be allowed on any one boat and only one trip will be booked on a particular day. If possible only one trip per weekend will be booked.
  8. No member may fish in any way that inconveniences other members. People fishing from the front of the boat should normally use heavier weights than those fishing from the stern when at anchor. When drifting, those fishing under the boat should use heavier leads.
  9. The fishing year will run from January 1st to December 31st.
  10. Members who arrive late for a trip and miss the boat must still pay for the trip.
